OUR STORY
At Mateo, we believe every home is a gift.
When my wife Mae and I founded this company, we named it Mateo, an anagram of our names meaning "Gift of God." In 2021, we took the leap into property development, driven by a clear vision: to deliver the housing supply our market desperately needs.
But property development isn’t a highlight reel. We’ve fought through complex construction logistics, endless council red tape, rapid interest rate hikes, and much more. We’ve paid the "ignorance tax”. I know the reality of sleepless nights, and days staring at screens to complete a project proposal.
The friction could have broken us; instead, it became our catalyst. Those struggles forced us to engineer operational systems to manage volume and strip out risk. Today, we lean into the hard stuff. We gladly tackle the complexity of civil construction and planning compliance, transforming raw dirt into new communities.
Our mission is absolute: to responsibly steward the capital entrusted to us, execute with faithful integrity, and build a resilient legacy we can proudly show our future children.
